How to compile TupiTube Desk from source code (Ubuntu + Qt5)

1. Install all the dependencies required using Ubuntu packages:
- Run these commands from console:

sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install ruby
sudo apt-get install libavcodec-dev libavformat-dev libswscale-dev
sudo apt-get install libogg-dev libtheora-dev
sudo apt-get install zlib1g-dev
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dev
sudo apt-get install libpulse-dev
sudo apt-get install git

2. Install the Qt5 framework (version 5.4 or higher):

chmod 755
./ (follow the step by step wizard)
  • Modify your PATH variable including your Qt5 installation path:
export PATH=/*your*/*Qt*/*path*/5.7.0/gcc_64/bin:$PATH
  • Verify your Qt5 version:
qmake -version

- Let's see an specific example (64 bit using account “user”):

chmod 755

- The Qt5 installation path was: /home/user/Qt5.7.0

export PATH=/home/user/Qt5.7.0/5.7/gcc_64/bin:$PATH
qmake -version

  QMake version 3.0
  Using Qt version 5.7.0 in /home/user/Qt5.7.0/5.7/gcc_64/lib

3. Install the Quazip dependency:

Warning: If you want to use the Quazip package from Ubuntu's repository, ensure it was created using Qt5, otherwise TupiTube Desk compilation will fail.

- Download the source code from

tar xvfz quazip-0.7.3.tar.gz
cd quazip-0.7.3
qmake "PREFIX=/usr/local" "LIBS+=-lz"
sudo make install

4. Get TupiTube Desk source code:

git clone -b devel

5. Compile the source code:

cd tupitube.desk
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/tupitube.desk --with-quazip=/usr/local
sudo make install

6. Enjoy TupiTube Desk!

/usr/local/tupitube.desk/bin/tupitube.desk &
